Our story
The Green Careers Pathway was created to answer a simple but important question: How can we make sure every young person has the chance to take part in Wales’ green future?
Across Wales, there’s a growing need for skilled people in green industries , from renewable energy and sustainable construction, to farming and community projects.
At the same time, many young people, especially those who are disabled, neurodiverse, from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, or young women, face extra barriers to starting their careers.
That’s where Green Careers Pathway comes in.
Led by Codi Group and supported by community partners across Newport and Swansea, the programme brings together schools, families, businesses, and employers to create real opportunities.
Through one-to-one coaching, hands-on workshops, site visits, and paid placements, young people can build skills, confidence, and pathways into sustainable jobs.
But this story isn’t just about jobs, it’s about changing systems. By working with employers and community groups, we’re helping create inclusive workplaces where everyone feels welcome and valued.
Over the next five years, Green Careers Pathway will aim to support hundreds of young people into green jobs, inspire thousands more, and help Wales move closer to a fairer, net-zero future.
